Saying Thankyou to Bus Drivers.

When you are getting off a public transport bus do you say "thank you" to the driver as you step off?

Here in Wales it is considered impolite not to say thank you. However it is expressed as:

Cheers

Cheers mate (for a male driver)

Cheers mi duck or dear (for a female driver)

Thanks

Thank you.

Or my favourite in Welsh:
Diolch Drive.
