37m i am not a runner or a lifter, just a regular guy with a desk job and two kids who's been dragging through life for what feels like 2 years.
Constantly tired like fall asleep on the couch at 8pm tired. Cold hands all the time and my wife jokes about it. Recovery from anything physical is shot, I played pickup basketball with my brother in law last month and was sore for 5 days. Focus is a wreck and ive been blaming everything, the kids or my job even getting older, you name it i had a reason for it.
Went to my doctor twice ran the standard cbc and metabolic stuff both times. Got told everything looks fine for my age but even so why do i feel like im moving through wet cement.

Was complaining to a buddy at a bbq and he said dude have you ever had your ferritin checked and im like isn't that a woman thing?? apparently no men can be iron deficient too especially if you don't eat much red meat (i don't really, just chicken) and your doctor won't think to check because it's not on the standard panel and the assumption is men get plenty of iron from diet.
So my question for the guys here, has anyone been in this spot and turned out to be something basic like iron, vitamin d, low t. Did you push your doctor or just order the test yourself. I keep seeing people mention you can just buy your own bloodwork online for cheap and it sounds either genius or like a scam and i can't tell which.
Genuine appreciate any input i'm tired of being tired.
