I dated a guy recently and the beginning honestly felt amazing.

We were talking every day.
Sending each other dumb memes constantly.
Falling asleep on FaceTime sometimes.
He’d randomly text me stuff like “wish you were here rn” or “I’ve never clicked with someone this fast before.”

And naturally after a while I got attached because… yeah obviously 😭

But then once things started feeling more emotionally real, his energy slowly changed.

Not in some huge dramatic way either.
Just little things.

Replies got slower.
Less questions.
Less excitement.
Still watching every story instantly tho lol.

And the confusing part is he never FULLY pulled away either.
Like every time I started distancing myself emotionally, suddenly he’d come back acting interested again.

Honestly I think that’s what messes people up now more than actual rejection.

It’s the inconsistency.

Like someone gives you just enough attention to keep the emotional connection alive but not enough to make you feel secure in it.

And idk maybe I’m overthinking it but social media/dating apps probably made this worse too. It feels like people are always halfway invested because they think there’s always another option around the corner.

TL;DR: Guy came on super strong emotionally at first, slowly became inconsistent once I got attached, and now I’m starting to think modern dating runs on temporary emotional connections.
