Hey everyone. I find myself bored and completely beyond unstimulated at my current job. I make a modest income (82k) in an IT related job that does increase anywhere by 6-12% every year but I just have no joy in my career. I’ve been in this field now for about 7 years. My career is also support role oriented so there is slow upward mobility. Being single and 30, I would have to fund this move myself. I do have 6 figure savings I was planning for a house that I could live off of while attending community college. Nursing appeals to me because it’s unpredictable and involves me walking around. Medicine and science also are just interesting to me.
Has anyone else ever made such a similar career change on their own and on their own dime? I feel like I’m taking 3 steps backward to make a step forward but I don’t know what else to do. Thanks
