Hi everyone,

I'm afraid I just left a small scratch on someone's car while parallel parking. I wiped off the white paint from my car to the point where no one would notice the scratch at all (I'm being honest) unless you were told and got down to have a look. Obviously, there's no dent or change in the bodywork at all.

I was just about to get my stuff out of my car and leave when the owner came. For some reason, I couldn't help but tell him. He seemed nice enough, thanked me for being honest and I offered my number should he want to polish it or something.

I'm 23 – been driving since 17 – and I can only just afford my insurance premiums. I'm terrified this might go through insurance and hurt me financially, or that this guy (as fine as he seemed for 2 mins) will know he's got power over me and ask me to pay an inordinate amount for it between us.

If the scratch was at all noticeable, I would have left a note, but again, this was literally indistinguishable unless told and looked for and I'm kicking myself for owning up in that moment.

I'm hoping he is fine with it the way it is and I won't be getting a call, but I'm terrified of my insurance premium/the bill he could want me to pay.

Is there anything I can do to be prepared at all? Thanks guys!
