Hi,
Im a pretty high functioning person, but sometimes there are acceptable and non-acceptable things people seem to know without learning or asking that I just simply don’t understand, like jokes and ways of asking for things. One question I have is this: I’m going to college in the fall and I’ll be local to my home and my hs. There are a few friends I definitely still want to be in contact with, but others are just… proximity friends. There’s the ones my close friends are friends with, and there’s the ones who I just know and just don’t dislike. When did you guys stop saying happy birthday to your high school classmates/friends?
SIDE NOTE: one person in particular is someone I was friends with for years but her true colors started coming out a few years ago; I had friendship issues with her, she moved high schools for our senior year (‘26), and I still felt obligated to wish her a happy birthday this year bc we were so close AND she would call me fake if I didn’t. For perspective, she played victim when i caught her talking shit about me to random boys. Violating my boundaries then saying I’m attacking her when I get frustrated at her for doing that. Is it a valid excuse to be like “college is different” if I forget? That’s kind of separate so that’s why I put it down here.
Thanks!
