I (36 M) have been dating my gf (28 F) for ~7 months. She's a very intelligent person and very smart. She gets things faster than others and is also very knowledgeable. It's actually part of what attracts me to her.
However, there has happened a couple of times that I did something ridiculously wrong, and she smiled and quickly hid her smile. This gives me an awful feeling and makes me afraid of our long term life together.
Her smile in this situations destroys me, and then her immediate masking of smile is like a double stab in my heart.
I talked to her. She says she understands how I feel, and she says it's her unconscious reaction, not necessarily her "real" feeling. But I think this is just an excuse. And regardless, I don't know if I can cope with it or not.
TLDR; my girlfriend laughed at my mistake. Should I break up? Is this a red flag?
