I need help on how to confront a man I met that lied about his age. I told him I wouldn’t date someone more than 8 years older than me. I’m 24 so 32 was my cut off. It might seem arbitrary to some, but it’s just a boundary that makes me feel more comfortable. He told me he was 31. He looked like he was 31 so I didn’t even think he would be lying. Anyways, after meeting up with him and chatting, I decided to research him online (as every girl does). Using the details he gave me I was able to verify his job and where he went to school but I noticed he graduated with his BS in 2012. I did the math which would put his birth year around 1990 making him not 31. I was very disappointed because he was so nice to me. He asked to go to dinner the following week and I agreed, thinking he might be honest with me. Of course he wasn’t. I want to confront him but I’m not sure how to do it. I feel really dumb believing him. All my friends said it was very obvious he was lying and that he in looks even older than 35. I don’t like being lied to but I feel like he didn’t have bad intentions. Is it stupid to try to look past it? How would I go about confronting him? In person or via text? I just don’t understand the point of lying because eventually I would have figured it out. Was he hoping I would already like him too much to care when the truth came out? It just makes me think he was being creepy even though I know his intentions were good. On the bright side, he seems to be telling the truth about everything else. It’s just the age thing :/
