My (20M) girlfriend (21F) have been together about a year and a half and I have been talking about getting an apartment and our future together, and she’s been pushing that she really wants a cat. However, I’m allergic and just generally don’t like cats lol, not severely, but I get hives and congested when I’m around them. Every time I tell her that I don’t want one, she just tells me we’re going to have one. She keeps telling me to just take the medication and I’ll adapt, but I don’t really want to have to take medication to live in my own apartment/house without feeling sick. She had one almost her whole life has always wanted to get another, and says it’s a “soft-dealbreaker”. I’m trying to get her to understand my side, but she just keeps telling me she wants one. I’m not sure if I’m being unreasonable. How could I get her to understand where I’m coming from?
