To preface- My husband and I moved very quickly from “casual dating” to moving in. I was in an unsafe environment and he offered me to move in so I wouldn’t have to commute over an hour one way from work to home (in good weather.). I had known his sister for some months now because we bowled together on a league. (and just to say I am 35, my husband in his early 40s lol we’re not as old as that makes us sound. I promise.)

Very early into living together, I found out that my husband (boyfriend at the time)-never missed Work. He could be on his deathbed and would still go into work. I was raised if you don’t feel good you go to the doctor. You might miss work or school for a day or two life moves on.

Over the years, I’ve tried to adopt the same concept as my husband (only missing work when absolutely necessary like when I had a stroke 10 years ago or migraine that was so debilitating I couldn’t move). If I had to miss Work, he’d say something like well. We’ll just have to make it up next time to make up for the loss. (not shaming me, we both come from hard working to maintain backgrounds so missing money is a lot for us even it is just a days work.)

Well, here we are several years later- married with a toddler (who is the best thing of both of us), and on my second Mother’s Day I get diagnosed with pneumonia. This morning was super rough. Seeing that I was struggling this morning he told his boss he couldn’t come in because his wife has pneumonia and she needs him. My boss called (to have me come in on my scheduled day off to make up for missing yesterday) and he told me to tell her* “she has the note you require, she will see you tomorrow.” (Normally he wouldn’t but my job is seriously so poorly owned by hothead and an office manager who’s really a babysitter bc she’s married to the owners best friend. So no worries there.)

Had you told me last year this happens, I’d laugh. My husband? Never. But here we are and I am so thankful. He’s certainly very full of surprises 💜

ETA: Spelling may be bad. Sorry. I was trying to not cough up the grown chicken that lives in my throat these days.
