I had a lovely first date (just drinks) last week with a woman from my home country. I felt like we got along really well – there was lots of mutual interest and chemistry. I was going to ask her for a second date but she beat me to it! We've been texting every day since then and, I confess, I may be a bit smitten.
She has her citizenship ceremony next week and I'm taking her out for a cocktail and a nice dinner to celebrate. (I got my citizenship last year and it's definitely a good reason to celebrate.) I was thinking about buying her a bouquet of flowers along with a handwritten note congratulating her on becoming a citizen.
Would that be too much? Normally I would never buy someone flowers on a second date, because that seems a bit intense. But it might be okay in this instance given the occasion.
My friends are divided on this so I'm looking for other opinions. One consideration is the cost: a bouquet of nice flowers will cost about $70 AUD where we live and I'll probably spend over $100 on dinner. On the one hand, I worry that this will make her feel some sort of pressure, but on the other, it demonstrates my interest in her. (I actually don't mind spending the money – I earn a good salary, as does she.)
Thoughts?
