I’m (18M) currently in like a relationship with someone (18M)we have been for almost two years) and we both have pretty eh mental histories. Recently I’ve genuinely been trying to express myself through actually putting effort into my work (school) and I’ve been getting better. However, when I talk about studying or staying after school for like curriculum work, he says stuff like ‘imagine actually studying’ and it honestly brings me really down? Like I’m trying and talking about how I’m trying to improve myself as a person and you’re just talking about your own struggles (not that it’s a bad thing, however it’s just unprompted) which makes me question my own problems and it sheds my optimism. I like him a lot, but this is something that really bothers me, how can I communicate this kind of stuff to him? Sorry for the ranting
**TL;DR;** : Partner has kinda been bringing me down when I talk about my own progress, how to communicate?!
