My (35F) Birthday is next week. My husband (40M) informed me last week that we weren't going to be able to do anything for my Birthday. Not because it is on a weekday, but because he didn't plan anything.
We've been married for almost 8 years. He knows my family has always made a big deal out of Birthdays and that I wanted to continue that tradition with the kids. Last year I threw him a surprise party for his 40th, saving for over a year to do so. I make HUGE deals for the kids birthdays and for his, but almost every year I'm just…forgotten.
I am thinking about canceling what I've been working on for his Birthday and letting him experience what it's like…but I know I would feel awful.
I don't know what I'm asking or what I'm really wanting from this…
Am I making too big of a deal of this?
