So there's this girl (19F) I (19M) recently saw on the train. We used to somewhat know each other because our parents are friends, but we literally haven't spoken since we were about 12. My sister actually knows her pretty well because they take dancing lessons at the same place, and she's been telling me I should go for it.
My plan is to just walk up to her at the train station, open with something like "Hey, you're X right? Remember me?" and catch up a bit, then ask if she'd want to go to dinner sometime.
I'm usually not the nervous type when it comes to talking to strangers or people in general, but something about this girl is different and I don't want to mess it up by coming across as creepy or superficial. We follow each other on Instagram but I barely use it so sliding into DMs feels weird.
Also, she usually has airpods in, so I'd have to interrupt her which makes it feel a bit more awkward.
Am I overthinking this? Any advice on how to approach it naturally?
