I am 24, living in east Africa ( Ethiopia). And I have started to consume English since covid untill now. And I can understand well crafted and subtle jokes, sarcasm, satires, deep conversation, scholarly work. I have never found myself struggling to understand what the speaker trying to convey, But when it comes to my grammar and spoken English, I suck at those things big time. I always ask myself why I am not able to intuitively understand the rules and apply it when I try to speak and write. because I struggle to hold a smooth conversation and even send texts that has no basic grammatical error. My mind always go blank, lol. Is it an age thing?
