I (20sF) recently went on a first date with a guy (20sM) from an app. He was a super dry texter beforehand, but in person, the chemistry was amazing and he even extended the date.
The goodbye was a bit awkward though, with no hug or concrete plans. When I got home, I tried to drop a hint: "I'm usually not great at meeting people online, but I had a lovely night." He literally just replied, "Really glad to hear that!"… and STILL didn't ask me out.
Since he wasn't making a move, I was direct: "I'd like to see you again." Finally, he said he felt the same, asked when I was free, and we agreed to meet up after my upcoming vacation.
A few days later, I tried to make small talk about an event, but he just hit me with a dry "Oh awesome, have fun!" I didn't know how to respond to that, so I just "liked" the message and let the conversation die.
Then on the day of my flight, he actually double-texted me out of nowhere to wish me a safe trip and asked for my exact return date. I threw in a slightly flirty text: "Might bring you back some cool stuff if you're lucky enough." He played along and replied, "I hope I am then lol." And I just heart-reacted to it.
I’ve been on vacation for a week now, and I still have over a week left before I go home. Since that last text, it’s been complete radio silence from his end. He hasn't texted at all, but he watches every single one of my Instagram stories.
My questions for you all:
-
Is he just respecting my vacation space, or is this a slow fade?
-
Since I still have over a week left here, should I reach out to him now just to keep the momentum going?
-
Should I wait until I get back home to text him?
-
Or should I just not text him at all and wait for HIM to reach out, since he already knows the exact date I'm coming back?
Brutally honest advice needed. TIA!
