So I was watching season 2 of Mr Mercedes. (Based on a Stephen King novel) Where one of the characters is talking to another character about the protagonist.
She goes something like, and I'm paraphrasing here, "Do you know Bill doesn't leave the lights on to come back to when he leaves (for work or otherwise). He says it's because he doesn't want to pay any more to the electricity guys than he already does – but I think he's just comfortable with darkness"
Now I find that absolutely crazy cuz like obviously you don't want to spend extra for electricity when you're not home. Is this just case of lazy writing or is it actually common for Americans to come back to a lit home
