Hi everyone! Lately, I’ve been reflecting a lot on my relationship with my parents. I realized there’s this growing wall between us, and it’s mostly because I’ve been closing off. I avoid certain topics because I’m afraid of being judged or having my dreams dismissed as "unserious."
Instead of being open, I choose silence to avoid lectures. But the distance is only getting worse.
I’ve been using a self-reflection tool to analyze my reactions, and it helped me realize that a lot of my fear is just anticipating negativity before it even happens. I’m now trying to express my needs more calmly, without being defensive from the start.
Has anyone else dealt with this "communication gap" in their family? How did you find common ground when it felt like you were speaking different languages? 🏠
