In movies people always seem to have a glass of wine or whiskey (complete with a mini bar for it). The characters are usually what I think you call 'WASPS' white-middle/upper income.

  1. My wealthy uncle has a home bar complete with all the fancy alcohols. I don’t even have a bedroom (studio apartment). Most people are more like me

  2. I have a space in my pantry for making mixed drinks, and I do drink at home. Never alone though, because I’m never home alone.

  3. In my twenties my roommates and I found a beer distributor who would sell us pallets of beer for basically less than a dollar each. You bet your ass we drank at home lol

  4. I have a minibar area at home, although since adopting two kittens last year the items on the bar have slowly migrated into cabinets and the pantry.

My father has indoor and outdoor bars at his homes.

We don’t drink at home alone but do with family and guests.

  5. I used to drink at home alone, if I’d get home and nobody else was home I’d open a beer and unwind sometimes, or if I got home and everybody was asleep I’d pour a bourbon and do the same. I also used to have a full bar, at both lower and now middle class. My wife and I only ever have beer occasionally and wine usually in the house for health reasons to drink less. I’ll still occasionally go to a bar to get some work done or have some alone time and have a pint or a cocktail.

Also, FYI “WASP” stands for White Anglo-Saxon Protestant, but for all intents and purposes is now slang for kind of snobby white middle class with upward aspirations.

  6. I don’t even keep alcohol at my apartment at this point, kind of actively dislike it lately

  7. I only drink socially, and even then I drink rarely. The only alcohol in my home is reserved for if I have a guy over and we decide to play a drinking game

  8. Yes I have a wine rack, and a cupboard dedicated to spirits. Vodka, bourbon, whiskey, rum…I’m usually having a drink at night.

  9. I used to drink wine alone to have fun and be able to sleep. A bitch is an insomniac. It helped me push things down when I was in my feelings

  10. I have a liquor cabinet, but it’s usually just for hosting people. I rarely drink at home by myself.

  11. Drinking at home is much cheaper than going to a bar, so if I’m going to drink it’s typically at home.

  12. Most people who drink do so at home, yes. Drinking at bars is very expensive and usually done when you want to hang out with friends.

  13. I do. I mean, if I’m by myself I’m not getting drunk, but I might crack myself a beer at the end of a work day, or pour myself a little bourbon while I read a book. I drink at my home with my fiancée quite often, and I’ve got a friend coming over this evening and we are sure to drink a few beers together.

But the US is large and everyone is different. My own parents hardly ever drink— at home or otherwise.

  14. I had a beer last night while watching TV.

I also have a few bottles of bourbon in a cabinet that I sometimes drink.

  15. Yes absolutely. Its far more uncommon for me to drink outside the house at this point in my life.

  16. When everyone else in the house is finally asleep, I usually get an hour or two to myself before I go to bed. I like to sit down, play a game or watch a show that my wife isn’t interested in, and have a cocktail or some bourbon or rum.

  17. Yeah, sure. I like bourbon and sometimes I have a glass by myself at home. Way cheaper and easier than going to a bar and drinking. I’m not a huge drinker though, I don’t think it’s weird or pathetic, lol. I’m also not a WASP.
