I've heard the word "accomodations" thrown around a lot in US based disability discourse, they often talk about an "aide" or a "paraprofessional". I also saw a fanfic where a character has some sort of a psychotic disorder and he didn't work or go to school and there was a social worker who checked in regularly with him from how he was doing to how good he was with housework. He got a monthly stipend which again the social worker regularly checked with. Other than that he had a pretty much normal life he often hang out with other college students.
Are these two things typically happen in the US?
