I want to formally give our house a name. My wife doesn’t have a problem with it but she thinks it is “kind of extra”. Just curious.

I’m with your wife on this one
No but I named my car.
It’s called Clifford because it’s big and red.
No, but I named my car.
I don’t know anyone who has and yeah it does seem kind of extra, but hey if you want to you might as well
There’s a scene in Mame about that…so if your name is Upsin…don’t call it the Upsin Downs
We bought a fixer upper and called it The Handyman From Hell Bungalow.
Names are for sprawling country estates. Our house is just home.
No we just call it the “whatever street we live on” house
No. But if I had a beach house, I probably would.
Never named a house but do my vehicles. Havent owned a carrie yet, so feel good about that, lol
Thankfully my home was given a name when it was built in the 1700s. I think older estates and the like that have a name are cool but a little weird to give a name to a normal new construction home. But that might be gate keepy of me so you do you lol
No, and don’t recall anyone I’ve known who has. Of course it’s done, but not at all typical.
Sort of. Our last name starts with P so we call it the “[Last Name] Palace”.
I’ve only known beach houses in the US and some homes in the UK to have names. Do what you like though, I quite like people who are extra.
How about Esteban?
Mordor
Chateau de wormbreath
My brother’s house is officially called The Manor.
It kinda has a legacy.
It’s very extra, but joy is in short supply. Take it where you can find it.
I called the old house I lived in “the old house”
I named my house. Because I wanted a lil whimsy
How else would I manage the network if the house doesn’t have a domain? Houses need names.
Until recently the village of Carmel-by-the-Sea didn’t have numerical addresses, mostly relying on house names and “five doors down from such and such cross streets” for directions. And a lot of people were really sad that it changed.
And yes, they are super extra.
That’s a normal practice in the town of Carmel-by-the-Sea in California, and makes its residents sound like they’re so far up their own assholes that they should go by the demonym Oroborans.
And no, no i didn’t name my house.
It is “kind of extra”, but also who cares? When I was renting apartments with friends we always named them. It’s fun! Nothing wrong with having a little fun, even if it is a little “extra”.
It’s extremely extra, and I think you should do it.
