* This question is relevant to the uk because I’ve seen different rules for different countries*

I’ve got a renal scan (ultrasound) to have a look at my kidneys and bladder tomorrow. The letter from the NHS states eat and drink as normal and zero preparation needed.

All my previous ultrasounds (not for kidney and bladder) required me to go 12+ hours with no food and drink at least 1-2 litres of water without urinating.

My friends are now telling me the letter is wrong and I absolutely should be drinking before hand and not eating.

What has your experience with healthcare in the uk been with these scans?
