To give you the long story there’s 2 people (guy and girl) at my workplace who seem to be great friends (have each others numbers, seem to hang out with each other etc) despite only knowing each other for 5 months. They joined my workplace 2 months before I did.
Over the 3 months I’ve gotten to know them (they reached out first of course since I tended to keep to myself) I’ve realised they like a lot of the same stuff I do (shows, video games), we’ve talked a fair amount about them. Me mainly with the other guy since the girl is often pretty vague when I ask about how her weekend was etc and fair enough I’d rather not press (we still small talk and joke of course when passing).
The problem now is that I don’t have anything else to talk about with them, it feels like I’ve exhausted all topics etc( I even resorted to oversharing to keep things going due to my adhd). So now it’s resulted to awkward smiles and one liners when passing them that I could only come up with in the moment and the frustrating thing is it feels like I’m still at the beginning stage of talking to them since nothing feels like it’s progressed. Whereas they seem to be able to talk non-stop with each other no issue about serious topics, whilst progressing their friendship.
Perhaps I’m just hoping to get too much out of it and looking for something that isn’t there.
Any idea?
