I'm disabled, currently physical is the biggest issue but I also have bipolar disorder that has been very serious, as well as autism and adhd. I study full time and have three jobs, and also have an autistic teenager living at home. I also just don't like doing housework, even when i am physically capable I have always found it difficult.
I am very willing to pay for help.
My house is awful. I have cats and can keep up with litter trays etc just about (they have a cat flap but one of them doesn't like to go outside). The general untidy nature is enough that social services have been involved, I've managed to get on top of it but it takes me ages because of pain and fatigue and I've come to the realisation that I could spend my life doing housework that I hate, or I can go to jobs that I love and pay someone to do the housework in a fraction of the time because they aren't disabled.
However, I tried using a cleaning company and they insisted on things being done to a very high standard which of course took longer and then they stopped coming because it was taking too long (they just stopped, there was no discussion). I've now tried paying 5 friends or family, each time they come for a few weeks then life gets in the way, I don't mind that but it's never consistent because they get ill or get offered full time work.
I need someone to come in maybe once or twice a week and do the physically big things like bins out, sweep and mop, occasionally windows. If they have time then generally clean and tidy kitchen and downstairs in general, downstairs loo, maybe upstairs bathroom. Maybe stick teatowels and that in the washing machine (my clothes are already collected to be washed weekly, maybe this person could take over doing that while they are here eventually, maybe they could even change the beds as currently that needs my mum to come and do it or I spend hours doing it in stages) and if the dishes have built up get on top of that. The dream person would help me declutter but I know that's a big ask. Its a three bed terrace and we are out every day so it's not a massive job. It doesn't have to be to a high standard, just better than it is.
I hope that will give me enough energy to be able to cook, currently that's very rare and we eat ready meals or takeaways. Also I hope I will be able to keep up with study and work if I get this help. My disabilities are getting worse so I need to sort this out. Social services have said they will do an assessment for a perching stool, grab rails etc but they are taking ages and that doesn't solve everything anyway.
How can I find the right person? I know this goes beyond what a standard cleaner does, but a standard carer isn't likely to do cleaning which is probably the bulk of it.
There's a lot of guilt as a mum but I think it could be a good way of earning extra for someone. I just don't know where to look or how to word the request.
