I just read that a member of congress died, and that his death put the majority at jeopardy. Thise that mean that there is not a substitute to your representatives in case of an unavailability ?
In my country every rep (low and high chamber) has a co-listed candidate that will take their place if the rep can't hold their anymore to ensure that the representativity of a part of the population does not fall on one single individual.
I also read that the election for this seat can be withheld for a long period of time (ppl talked about Texas but I don't know enough of those affairs). Is it really possible to just leave a chunk of the nation without any representation whatsoever ?
