So my neighbour has a cat who we are very friendly with. She comes up to us when we leave and enter our house for a stroke. Generally seems quite happy with her conditions too.
However, in recent times, noticeably since Christmas my neighbour has been absent from the house. We suspect they're with their partner at their house. So the cat comes to our front door and meows incessantly.
I should mention that there are 2 other cats in the house next door that seem to stay in the house no matter what. The neighbour also has a dog, but the dog has been gone as long as they have (since xmas/just before).
We ended up letting her in the house last night as it was -1c outside and she was on our step for hours. She sat with us on the sofa and seemed very happy.
We haven't seen our neighbour in days/possibly weeks now, save for one person who entered the house for quite literally less than 1 minute. While the cat was in our house she was gulping water down that had been left in a cup.
We're worried that she's not being fed/watered properly, and certain beyond doubt that she's not being loved and cared for like you should with a pet.
What should we do in this situation?
Currently she's on our step again, its -2c, snow on the ground and she won't stop meowing.
Do we let her in?
Do we call RSPCA?
I would like to talk to my neighbour but they're not here and I don't have them on socials nor do I have their number, and I don't want to cause drama with them either.
Many thanks for your input.
