Im 24, only recently did it occur to me that I was being pulled out of class alone and no one ever explained to me why. I've asked my mum and she had no clue I was even being taken out of class.
I mostly remember this being from year 4 onwards? So from about 8 years old.
I wasn't disruptive, I was always a quiet and polite kid. I wasn't struggling with work, I even remember being told I was ahead most of the time. And I had a great home life so I don't think it'd be anything to do with safeguarding concerns.
My guesses, from what I've read, is "Social Support" because I've never had great social skills, even today. Or even some kind of "Enrichment Program" because like I said, I was ahead.
I remember specifically being taken out for reading. Once or twice I was taken out to bake with a TA. Once I was taken outside and we were observing this horse riding club (found out that day I hated horses up close). And I also remember a couple times being taken out and we'd talk and write on these (so so cool) whiteboard tables we had – but I don't remember what about.
I was also a part of this club with a few other kids, but it wasn't like a specific activity club, we'd just kind of draw or talk, I don't even remember what it was called.
So my guess is they were observing my behaviours? Like my speech ability and social skills?
And I'm also going to throw this in there – I was diagnosed with autism a few months ago. Is there a possibility they were observing me for signs of Autism, even back then? Because THAT would be fascinating
