I'm thinking of quitting my job in January after taking two weeks off and having absolutely zero desire to go back after Christmas. Surely there's others?
I work in the AAA games industry as a developer and I feel 2025 burned me out so bad, I just don't want to do this any more. This past year was just abysmal, on a personal level and for the industry as a whole.
I am not looking forward to any aspect of returning, the sociopathic bosses, the work itself, the absurd deadlines, or the fact the company will likely be expecting everyone at full 100% energy like Christmas magically fixes major systemic problems that eats the soul of its workers.
If it all vanished off the face of the Earth I'd probably just shrug more than worry about the income, which is a big sign I need to change.
Who else is thinking 'screw it' and going after a job/career change after 2025 particularly?
