Between spouse’s layoff, pressure at my job, miscellaneous life stuff, my baseline anxiety has risen substantially in the last 3 months.
So much so that I’ve started to have psychogenic flu-like symptoms and even long-lasting seizures. The first time I got one of these fevers, my wife texted me to say that maybe we really are truly sick because she was feeling feverish and achey too. But then the next day post-rest and decompression, we both felt completely fine.
This has now happened a few times, I get a stress-induced fever, wife starts feeling feverish not too soon after. Thankfully she doesn’t experience the seizures but I never would’ve thought that my symptoms would have such a physical effect on her as well?
I guess it’s not so out there, I mean in college it’s not so unheard of for female roommates to sync up and bleed at the same time for no other reason than sharing space together.
Obviously, I feel bad for my role in this and am trying to figure out what type of therapy can help my physical response to stress, because it’s less of a cognitive thing (I don’t wake up thinking about stressors, I just wake up feeling feverish)
Is this mirroring of symptoms in couples A Thing™️? We are but a sample size of 1 and I’m curious about other married people’s experiences.
