I’m getting married next year and very undecided on whether to change my surname, but I’m leaning towards keeping my current one. The reason is because I am estranged from my family, I decided to change my surname a few years back and so my surname is not attached to anyone but me, it’s special and symbolises an important moment in my life.
If we have kids in the future, I just want to get an idea of all the options and consequences name-wise.
For example, if we decided the kids would have my husband’s surname rather than double barrel, would that cause any issues? I’ve heard of it potentially making international travel a bit more difficult potentially if travelling alone with kids etc, but would love to hear about people’s experiences.
