.It’s currently midnight. I’m on my in-laws floor next to my dog in his crate and he’s finally settled after 30 minutes.

The last 6-10 weeks he hasn’t been able to sleep in his crate at home. For the past 8 years he’s always slept in his crate, no issues. Both at home, at in-laws, when we are traveling – really he’s been a dream.

But my wife is 6 months pregnant, he has stopped sleeping in his crate and ends up in with us. We used to be able to get him in with us when we wanted without issues, aka if we wanted a lay in 😂 he bloody loves a sleep.

We’ve tried re-training to crate at night, but with no success. Today is the first time he’s settled after 20-30 minutes but I’m literally laying next to the crate.

He will stay in it fine without barking if we go out during the day.

I’m struggling to fix this, need him to love his crate again. But clearly he is getting separation anxiety from my wife as he has been far more clingy recently.

Has anyone got any recommendations? I’m tempted to speak to the vet and see if we should test some anxiety meds to help him, as I hate hearing him stressing.

Please no anti-crate comments.
