Long story short: I (25m) went on eight dates with a woman (24f) after which she ended things between us. The cited reasons were insomnia and stress due to school and work. She has talked about these issues while we were dating so she didn’t pull them out of thin air but I assumed she had lost interest and was simply letting me down gently. She expressed that she liked me but the timing was bad and we floated around the idea that we maybe would want to try dating again in future when she’s done with school. I expressed understanding towards her situation and told her that she could contact me anytime if she ever felt like it.
I assumed that was the end of it but this is where things get confusing. On two separate occasions after the break up she has messaged me wanting to meet me when she’s been out partying with friends. On both occasions we’ve met and ended up in my place where we’ve had sex. After the first post-break up meeting I asked if she would like to continue dating anyway but she refused citing the same reasons as previously. During the second post-break up meeting (which was actually yesterday) she expressed a lot of interest towards me in front of her close friends which I find especially strange if she weren’t actually interested in me on a significant level.
So now I’m unsure about her level of interest and the status of our “relationship”. I could ask her but it would be weird if she had to turn me down for third time citing the same reasons. Keeping things casual until she’s done with school would be okay for me but I’m not sure about her intentions. I’ve kept all communication casual after yesterday and told her that it was nice to see her to which she says that she thinks so too.
