Hey everyone!!
I met a girl during one of my run club sessions. We were both wearing the same pokemon sweatshirt and we started discussing more about pokemon and other common interests and stuff. Things were going well, we kept meeting regularly for like the next 3-4 sessions and eventually I asked her out for a coffee.
I should also mention that I am very short, 5'1", and she was noticeably taller than me, as almost everyone I meet is. But I don't really care about it and I thought she didn't either.
Anyway, we went to a cafe and had a lovely time there. It was one of those cafes where you paint something on a clay object. After that we went on 3 more dates and things were going well. She decided to invite me to one of her friend's moving away party and I got to meet her friends. And that is where everything went downhill.
I got a lot of snide remarks from her friends. One mentioned that being around me must make her "maternal instincts" kick in. And I could feel her getting uncomfortable with all these comments and she basically stopped talking to me for the rest of the night. I asked her if she wanted me to drop her off and she said that she will find someone else. I insisted that it's fine and I can drop her off , but after she refused again I just let it go.
I texted her the next morning if she got back home and everything is fine and if I did something to upset her. I got a reply after 12 hours that she wants to end things.
It's so annoying because I know it was the height thing and maybe her friends which got in her head but I can't do anything about it because it's her choice. It's already hard meeting people who are willing to date somebody of my height but it gets infinitely harder when other people's opinions influence them. We had a great time before that wretched going away party.
Anyway, thanks for reading through my rant. Just had to throw my feelings out into the universe.
