I moved away from my hometown a few years ago. A guy I had previously been close friends with got married right after I left. I went to the wedding, and he certainly was distant as he started his married life. More recently, he went through a shocking divorce. All through that time, he reached out constantly wanting to connect, talk, meet up, etc. I tried to be helpful, but also tried to set some boundaries.
About 4 months ago, the divorce went through and he has completely dropped me. Barely responsive to messages etc. I quit trying a month or so ago, but I’m kinda shocked. I’ve had friends drift away in a natural way before, but I’ve never been so clearly used. Just wow. I’m really working on boundaries, so I’m glad I didn’t go all out here. But there are some sketchy dudes out there.
