I heard about how some high schools gave athletes what I call "emergency extra credit" (thereafter, EEC; probably vary from teacher to teacher and school to school, though) to athletes at risk of being ineligible to compete and, of course, I expect football to have the most instances of EEC, followed by basketball, given how these two sports tend to give US high schools their reputations of "omnisports club operators" abroad. So I have some questions:

  1. How commonly is EEC given to student-athletes in your area?
  2. Is EEC given systematically or mostly in emergencies?
  3. Does the frequency (or amount) of EEC depend on where they sit on the team's depth chart?
  4. Are there subjects that tend to be given EEC more?
