I'm very much into local history, I've been collecting books on the history of my city for a long time, and it's always utterly fascinating for me to read about the pre-war times. Local newspapers written a hundred years ago are somehow much more alluring than recent ones haha. On the other hand I live in a neighbourhood which has been built from scratch in the 60s, before the war there were basically fields where I live nowadays. A place very close to my flat is actually mentioned in a famous Polish pre-war novel (yay, mentioned :D), but as exactly the place where the protagonist leaves the city to explore the 'countryside wilderness' lol.

Things that matter to me in everyday life are obviously rather normal, from parks and shops nearby to good transportation ;-), but at the same time I really enjoy all those local stories – was there a fancy pub on my street in 1890s? A shady inn with skeletons in the cupboards in 1790s? I'm quite envious of people living in more historical, lively neighbourhoods.
