Hi all,

I currently have a private health insurance policy through my workplace. However I'm looking to leave my job as soon as possible and hopefully will be able to do so soon but I don't know exactly when that will happen and it is unknown whether my next job will also offer this benefit or not.

My partner also has private health insurance (provided by the same insurer) through their job and I would be able to join their policy in a few months from now.

But because my policy starts on a different date as theirs, in order for me to switch to their policy, there would be 2 options:
1. I do not renew my current policy at my workplace, have a few months with no coverage and then join my partner's policy;
2. I keep my workplace policy for another year, also join my partner's policy in a few months and have an overlap in coverage by these 2 policies temporarily until I leave my current job at which point I would only be covered by their policy.

Other than the temporary extra cost of having 2 policies overlapping for a period of time, is there anything else I should be aware of with regards to option 2?

Would it be ok to have 2 policies at the same time temporarily, as long as any claims are made against only one of the policies?

Should I contact the insurer about this, if going for option 2?

Thanks
