Last week I tried to make a purchase on ASOS and noticed all other buy now pay later payment methods have been removed.

Customer Service would refuse to answer why options like Klarna, PayPal, had been removed.

I sent an email to their Legal Team recently. Today, ASOS customer service team told me the following –

"Going forward, BNPL payment methods such as Klarna, Riverty & PayPal are not always available to select at the checkout. We may decide not to offer these BNPL methods based on conditions of use, as mentioned in our Terms & Conditions on our site.

I do want to mention that these payment methods are run by third party companies. We have no visibility over if payments are made on time or not, nor are we able to influence their decision to accept orders from you. We are only able to add or remove the service to and from our site. With this in mind, I can confirm that this isn't a factor that is considered when making the decision to remove the payment method.

I understand that you want to know the reason you can't use Klarna and PayPal, however this is not something that we are able to share. Business decisions, such as who we offer BNPL services to are based on internal processes and I'm unable to advise you of the specific reason why it is no longer available.

After reviewing this for you today, I won't be able to reinstate the BNPL services on this occasion."

I have a good credit rating and I've always paid on time for Klarna/PayPal.

Furthermore, I am able to use Klarna for every other merchant that I shop with. I don't buy ASOS' excuse that Klarna or PayPal decided to remove my eligibility.

Part of my complaint to ASOS was the false advertising on their website that they accept Klarna/PayPal/Clearpay when it's no longer possible to use these options.

I wonder if other shoppers at ASOS have noticed the same thing?

I wonder if this is the end of ASOS if customers can only pay with debit cards.
