Just something I see every year and that I've also experienced, a lot of complaints about freezing cold homes, leaky ceilings/roofs, damp and mould, chipped paint, problematic doors, etc. These are all conditions I've experienced too and it makes renting for example feel totally miserable.
I'm hoping to see things change around that with the new renting laws, but I don't think it's just a legal issue. I find it's also become a sort of cultural norm to have poor housing stock, even where it puts people's wellbeing at risk.
Whenever I visit parts of continental Europe it's nice to see modernised, warm and dry flats being the norm for example. Here the opposite seems to be more common..
