We are foreigners living in this magical land.

The other day my daughter (11) came home from school and told us (and acted out ) a joke about an englishman, welshman and Irishman who were in a balloon that was losing air quick. After throwing out all the ballast, and still sinking, the Welshman shouting "for the glory of Wales!" and jumped overboard, sacrificing himself. The Irishman took note, then shouted "for the glory of Ireland" and tossed the Englishman overboard

I thought the joke rather funny but my wife gave my daughter a stern lecture about how she must never tell such jokes, that their day has passed and that they are inappropriate. It is true that where we come from certain jokes based particularly on racial stereotypes are no longer seen as acceptable.

But are the Englishman, Scotsman etc jokes considered inappropriate? I thought reddit would know.
