My former gf asked me for advice. We are still friends and she has done very very well in her career, invested well, and lives a nice life. Her new boyfriend proposed but she said she really, really liked him but he has nothing. No savings, no pension, no retirement plan.she feels that it shows a lack of judgement and finally, said no.

I now find myself in the same situation. I’m divorced. I made a lot of money while I was married but my ex was a negative influence and we ultimately split. I’m grateful we did.

My gf lives very modestly. But her positive affective presence is off the charts. She simply lights up any room she enters. She’s attractive, fit, fun, and funny and incredibly easy to relax around her.

My friends are encouraging me to wait for someone more financially similar to me, but I’m not so sure. Their argument is “you did it correctly and now it’s time to enjoy yourself”. My response is she IS my enjoyment.

I’m not 1% rich, but I am financially secure. Any thoughts?
