I was talking to a friend about my online dating habits, and he was shocked when I said I usually wait for a day before unmatching someone if there is no reply. He thinks it is way too soon and that I should give people more time.

Here is why I do it:

When I first started online dating, I used to wait 3-4 days before deleting the matches. But I noticed a pattern: anyone who replied within a day almost always led to at least one date, sometimes more.

On the other hand, the matches who took 2-3 days to reply? ZERO success. I could not even get a single date out of those conversations.

I get that life is busy and we all got things going on, but at the same time, we all check our phones frequently, except during work hours etc.

To clarify, I am not expecting instant replies – Just one or two messages within a day is enough for me to feel like the other person is actually interested.

So I am curious: How long do you wait before unmatching someone?
