My girlfriend runs really cold, like really cold. I run a little warm, but not anything crazy in my opinion. We’re not on the same lease, but we do basically live together at my place and need a compromise as we’re considering getting a place together.

I generally keep the AC set to 75-66 during the day, and 71 at night, which I feel is pretty normal. Even in the winter I tend to run the AC because my unit gets lots of sun through big windows, so it naturally gets warm.

We’re running into problems during the day for example it naturally being 74 degrees, and her being cold and wanting to turn the heat on. I’m already wearing shorts and a t shirt, and to me it feels crazy to set the heat to anything above maybe 72.

I’ve tried explaining that there’s only so much I can do to cool off, but there’s infinite things you can do to instantly warm up, but she doesn’t feel like it’s fair that she’s the one to do most of the adjusting, and she feels like she’s already doing a lot by wearing sweatpants and a hoodie.

We’re having a lot of conflict and she wants me to think about her comfort more. I want her to be comfortable but I want to be comfortable too. We can’t even agree on a range of temperature to keep it set at, because she wants to just turn the heat on if she feels cold. She would probably be fine setting the heat to 78 if she felt it was necessary for her.

Just not sure what we can do from here.
