I’m English myself and I’m baffled, bear in mind I don’t drink so I’m not at places like that often. One or twice a year if that.

My understanding is that, from Reddit, people say don’t queue. But why not? We queue and form a line to get onto buses (free for all in Manchester Piccadilly, my days), pay for groceries, speak to reception, dogging etc etc.

So why don’t we have a queue to order drinks at a bar? I’ve seen people at the bar first, but someone else comes along and speak slightly louder and gets served first, you could argue “well why didn’t the first guy speak slightly louder?” Maybe they did. Who knows.

I’m referring to a jam packed bar/pubs here, not a quiet one where it’s you and another customer per se. Literally jam packed and loud music where it’s everyone for themselves. Some people don’t want to be pushy and shout “I was here first!” Or if someone huge came, you’d probably just let them in and get served first. I understand the bar is horizontal and it’s going to be difficult to form a line, but sure there’s a more fair way of doing it

It’s just mind boggling to me that we queue for everything else but not for drinks at a bar. It would make life easier.
