I’m not asking this for me but for my younger brother. He will be 20 in a few months, currently not in any education or employment. He has 3 GCSE’s, none of them in core subjects, not that it really matters once you get older.

He has been searching for a job for a couple months, he hasn’t found anything. I know things are a little bleak at the moment as I have gone through it myself but it’s a bit depressing watching him do nothing. He just sits at home and goes out drinking with his mates several times a week, he has told me himself that he has been feeling a bit shit.

I’m thinking about paying for him to get his Maths and English, so at least he’s doing something? I live at home and don’t really have many other expenses. I was just wondering if it would be worth it, as it could potentially open the door to some apprenticeships? Obviously, he will need to be willing to do it but I think it would be better than nothing.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or would advise against this?
