Just wanted to get a sense of what’s “normal” here.
I hired an independent floor fitter to replace my flooring. The job was supposed to startend of Oct, and I’ve already paid him for the materials + deposit via bank transfer. I’ve got all the WhatsApp messages where we agreed everything, plus his driving licence and liability insurance details.
He came once to rip out my old carpet, but since then he’s been delaying constantly, almost every day there’s a new excuse or a reschedule. We’re now three weeks past the original date, and he still hasn’t turned up to finish the flooring.
At this point I don’t know what’s reasonable anymore.
How long would you usually wait before escalating the situation?
Is this kind of delay normal, or is it already way beyond what people would tolerate?
Also open to any advice on what options I have from here – whether that’s pushing for a deadline, getting someone else in, or anything else people have done in similar situations.
