My mum is in a care home in England and has been there since mid September. She was settling in well but sadly had a fall and broke her hip about a month ago.
After an operation and stay in the hospital, she’s now back in the home and seems relatively happy, although her mobility has been seriously affected and she spends most of her day in her wheelchair. However, (and sorry for the TMI) since returning to the home I have noticed that most awful smell coming from her rear end and it’s most obvious when she stands or moves from her chair (e.g. getting into the car).
I have a feeling that the carers aren’t washing her properly, but I’m also very aware that mum can be incredibly difficult and cranky. Does anyone have any advice on how I can manage this, as I don’t want to embarrass mum, but I also don’t want her to have such a noticeable smell emanating from her. TIA.
