I matched with a girl on a dating app about two weeks ago. She was very chatty and the vibe was good. She mentioned she’d recently had bad experiences with guys ghosting her and messing her around, and that she was looking for someone who communicates respectfully and is straightforward. I told her I was looking for the same.
After a few days, she asked for my number and we switched to texting. Not long after, she invited me out for coffee. The date went well, and at the end she asked if I wanted to see her again—I said yes. I followed up later that evening via text to say I’d enjoyed the date and wanted to see her again, and she responded the same. We even agreed we’d be honest with each other if either of us changed our minds.
After two days without texting, I initiated a conversation and she responded quickly. Eventually, I asked if she had any ideas for our next date. She suggested I come to her place for dinner and a movie, which I agreed to. She proposed a date two weeks out but said she needed to check with her flatmate, though it “would probably be fine” and she’d let me know.
It’s been four days since then, and I haven’t heard from her at all. I’m unsure whether I’m just being impatient, since the date is still over a week away, or if this silence is a sign she’s not that interested.
I’m weighing a few options and would appreciate advice:
A. Text her today with something general and see if she responds or mentions the date.
B. Text her directly asking if she confirmed the date with her flatmate. (I worry this might seem impatient and needy as it could be too soon.)
C. Wait until a day or two before the proposed date and ask then. (Seems reasonable, but her lack of follow-up and me needing to chase raises a red flag)
D. Don’t text at all and wait to see if she contacts me. If the date passes without a response, I delete her number and move on.
I think the thing that confuses me the most is that she said she wanted respectful and straightforward communication due to her recent bad experiences with guys ghosting her etc but is possibly about to do the exact same thing to me, which would be a massive double standard.
