I mean with your top leg having its knee pointed to the side and the ankle resting on the bottom leg just above the knee.
At what age do you start sitting like this? Was it always comfortable or did you have to work at it?
Whenever I try it, it either feels like a hip mobility stretch and not at all restful, or – if I’m feeing particularly limber and my hips don’t hurt – my foot just wants to slide off, or the pressure hurts my ankle. Either way it takes a lot of effort and I can’t imagine doing it naturally.
I came to the US as a kid and got made fun of for crossing my legs “like a girl”. Today I was at the dentist and saw at least three men doing the American leg cross like it was no big deal. What is the secret?
