I’m UK based.
TLDR: broken ankle had surgery in 2023, didn’t work. Had various other non invasive and invasive procedures to no avail. Looking for recommendations for medication, shoes and whether ankle fusion would be an option or just to have amputation. Have CRPS and arthritis.
Bit of background:
I’m 29 (F) broke my ankle in June 2023, had surgery in Sept 2023. Ankle surgery to fracture talus and ligament/tendon reconstruction ended up going wrong because it was delayed.
Fast forward to now, I’m looking at potentially asking for ankle fusion as steroid injections, supports, medication and physiotherapy have not helped and I’ve now developed arthritis in the joint which is very painful.
I also have CRPS in the affected leg which occurred pretty much straight after surgery (woke up with searing nerve pain and numbness, in my foot, ankle and leg. This has not improved since).
Looking at getting info as to whether people have requested ankle fusion and had success, or whether amputation is the route to go down. In the meantime has anyone had benefit from rocker sole trainers? I’ve looked into HOKA but they’re a bit out of my budget. And any type of medication they would recommend? I’ve had pregabalin, amitriptyline (had some good out of it but side effects were too much) and duloxetine to no avail.
